GTA 6 Pre-load Date, Time & File Size (How Many GB?)

GTA 6 pre-loading opens at local midnight on Thursday 12 November 2026, one week before launch, for digital pre-orders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced the file size; a PS5 download of about 210 GB has been reported but is unconfirmed, so free up at least 250 GB.

When can you pre-load GTA 6?

Rockstar Support confirms pre-loading begins at local midnight on 12 November 2026 for digital pre-orders. Physical copies are also released on 12 November so that their download codes can pre-load too — codes redeemed before launch start downloading from that date.

Pre-loading only downloads the game; it stays locked until your region unlocks on 19 November.

How big is GTA 6?

Rockstar has not published an official download size, and the store pages did not list one at the time of writing. The PlayStation Game Size tracker has reported about 210 GB for the PS5 version. Treat that as a planning figure, not a confirmed one — the exact size should appear on the store pages when pre-load opens. No Xbox figure has been reported.

For comparison, GTA V on PS5 is under 100 GB, so expect GTA 6 to need more than double the space.

How much storage do I need for GTA 6?

• Aim for 250 GB free on your internal SSD to cover the download, unpacking space and the day-one patch.
• On PS5, games can be stored on a USB drive but only run from the internal SSD or an installed M.2 SSD.
• On Xbox Series X|S, games run from internal storage or an official Storage Expansion Card.

How long will GTA 6 take to download?

Based on the reported 210 GB size, these are best-case times at full speed. Real downloads are slower on launch week, which is exactly why pre-loading matters.

Does the GTA 6 physical copy have a disc?

No. Rockstar has confirmed the physical version contains a download code inside the box and no disc. Boxed copies are available from 12 November so you can redeem the code and pre-load, but you will still need to download the whole game.
